Siri Tollefsen, born in 1968 in Sortland, Northern Norway.
Educated at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, and Oslo National Academy of the Arts,
Lives and work in Bergen, Norway, since 1996. Works with textile art and design, and digital art.
“As a digital and textile artist, I find inspiration for my works in nature, especially from Northern Norway, where I grew up, and still spend a lot of time. In particular birds are one of my most frequently theme.
It is important for me to have both the urban city life in Bergen and the rural archipelago above the Arctic circle.
I do also find my inspiration from structures and shape other places, such as in microscopic botanical structures, and old map drawings. My textile art education and skills gives an important influence in my digital artwork, in form of using different textures and in picture compositions.”
Siri Tollefsen is a member of the artist family studio and gallery: “Atelier Nøss”. The four members of the Tollefsen family works in different fields of art, craft and design. They meet several times of the year in the island of Andøya in the Vesterålen archipelago in Northern Norway.
